Safety and self-rescue should be a priority with VanLife, especially when much time is spent off-grid.

The full project will be posted soon.

During the design process, attention should already be given to the types of protection needed and their location around the van.

Safety

  • Vehicle window breaker and seatbelt cutter
  • Fire firefighting equipment
    • Fire Extinguisher
    • Fire Stick
      Emits a fire-stopping, non-toxic fog for 50 seconds, which is safe to breathe, mess-free, non-corrosive and environmentally friendly.
    • Fire Blanket
      A safety device designed to extinguish incipient fires, by placing it over a fire in order to smother it.
  • Weivision Security Camera’s
    A set of four camera’s placed around the exterior of the vehicle and barely visible to the unsuspected eye, can record a Birdseye view while driving or used as a security option when parked oernight. Night vision included.
  • Medicine Kit
  • Apps (Android)
    • First Aid by the American Red Cross.
    • Weatherbug Weather information.
    • Maps.me Off-line GPS backup.

Rescue

  • OBD2 Scanner
    To read the engine fault codes, check the engine light and emission monitor status.
  • Recovery Boards
    Used to facilitate getting a vehicle unstuck when in mud, snow, sand or on rocks.
  • Shovel
    To help, getting a stuck vehicle out of soft sand or mud.
  • Come-Along
    A hand ratchet puller, which makes moving heavy loads by hand, such as your vehicle, possible.
  • Tire Inflator
    Heavy Duty air compressor to reinflate your tires after being stuck in soft sand or mud.
  • Jump Starter
    A heavy duty Lithium battery to help you jump start your vehicle.
  • Spare Engine Belts
  • Tire Repair Kit
    Emergency roadside plug repairs are designed to get you back up and rolling long enough to get to the nearest service center.
  • Personal Locator Beacon
    Use a PLB if you are in a remote area and out of the range of cell phone service, to send a emergency distress signal.
