Mondriaan Oil Painting
This is an update from what I’ve been doing the last few days. I’m working on the final install of the Murphy bed in the Ford Transit van and like always, I’m doing several small projects at the same time.
Part of the Murphy bed, I choose a Mondriaan to add some color to the mostly white interior design of the van. The simplicity of making, modern design and bright colors were all factors when I chose this setup.
After making the frame, adding the canvas and applying the Gesso [watch the video], I continued today by measuring out where the black lines are supposed to be on the canvas and I used a regular pencil to indicate on the canvas where the individual ‘blocks’ are to be painted.
In the meantime I’m still working on the replacement fill dish for the water tank and some finishing touches before the fold down bed can be permanently installed.
I’m also focusing on what to do next:
- Applying ceiling insulation.
- Wiring on the passenger side wall in preparation for the kitchen.
- Figuring out and preparing the wood for the kitchen area in the rear of the van. That also includes choosing and ordering the right fridge, adding the Shower-In-A-Drawer [watch the video] at the bottom of the kitchen cabinets and deciding on some drawers that would be accessible from the rear of the van.
